The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH collaborates globally to collect and integrate large-scale brain research data, apply machine learning and artificial intelligence, and develop multiscale computational models that can transform our understanding of brain disorders. Our open, team science approach focuses on bridging the levels of the brain, from genes to circuits and from whole brains to the whole person, in order to better define, prevent and treat mental illnesses.

Summer Academy

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is excited to offer a five-day intensive project-based learning week where trainees will learn hands-on techniques for integrating multi-scale neuroscience data. This course is designed to introduce participants to the concepts and methods behind psychiatric neuroinformatics - encompassing genetics, brain structure and function, and cognition. In addition, participants will uncover the links between modalities of human genomics, neuronal electrophysiology, structural and functional neuroimaging, and observed behaviour that KCNI scientists are integrating through a series of virtual modules and a group-based project using real-world data types to study mental illness.

This unique learning opportunity will prepare participants to handle and analyze multiple data types in hopes that their own research may benefit from collaborative, multi-modal approaches. Critically, participants will also learn about best practices for data management and quality control in the context of integrative analysis.

Applications are open.

KCNI Celebrates One Year!

The Krembil Centre was proud to celebrate its one year anniversary with an all-day event to celebrate its one-year anniversary.

With opening remarks from Dr. Catherine Zahn, Deborah Gillis, Dr. Bruce Pollock, and Dr. Damian Jankowicz, the event included a Keynote from Dr. Etienne Sibille and presentations from the Centre's Scientists, trainees and informatics team.

Presenters focused on how their work is having an impact and how they would use knowledge translation to ensure research findings would be taken up in practice.

We had great feedback from across our community. We thank everyone who has supported us thus far and sincerely hope that next year we are able to host our colleagues in the Centre.
