Accessing Sample Manager

LabKey has two components LabKey Server and Sample manager. If your study has sample manager enabled, then by default sample manager will be displayed when selecting a project from the home page.


Projects with sample manager enabled will have the abbreviation 'SM' added to the project's name as seen below:



After selecting the Sample Manager project, you will be redirected to the sample manager dashboard which is the root of the sample manager folder.


The dashboard provides a quick glance of the following:

  • The total sample counts and status across studies.

       


  • Freezer space usage.

           



Sample manager navigation

After being redirected to the sample manager dashboard by default, always ensure a study is selected before accessing participant, sample or assay information. 

At the top next to the Sample manager logo select the dashboard button which will display a list of studies available. Hover over the desired study and select the dashboard icon as seen below. 

Managing Participants

To access the participants view select the study and then the participant button from the drop-down menu under the Source Types heading as shown below:




Entering Participants manually

To create a participant, select the add button followed by 'Add Manually'




Click the Add Source button and enter the required fields once completed and click the 'Finish Creating Source button' to create the participant.

(warning)Note Mandatory fields are denoted by an asterisk *. 



Editing Participants

From the participants view select the record for editing and click edit in grid.




The grid will be refreshed making the fields editable. Once a field has been updated select the 'Finish updating button" to save the changes made.

(warning)Note The Source ID field must contain the same value as the Participant ID field.


Managing Samples

To access the samples view, select the study and then the desired sample code from the drop-down menu under the Sample Types heading:

(warning)Note A sample type must be configured first before attempting to create a sample record.




Entering Samples manually

To create a sample, select the add button followed by 'Add Manually'

Viewing Results (Assays and File manager)

While LabKey has several locations in which viewing Participants and Sample data may be available, everything is available in one location within the Clinical and Assay Data tab. Please refer to the link below
